Hardfacing and repair welding consumables

Selecting a welding consumable starts with the wear mechanism.

HBX is a curated range of welding and hardfacing consumables that extend the service life of machine parts and equipment.

Materials

Welding consumables

At HBX, selecting a technology is a data-driven process. The form of the consumable follows from the size of the working area, the equipment available in the plant and the maximum acceptable dilution with the base metal. Chemical composition and grade come last — only once the wear mechanisms acting on the part have been identified.

The HBX range

01

Covered electrodes

MMA · 111

Crack repair welding and build-up hardfacing. A technology suited to stationary workshop conditions and to mobile service alike.

02

TIG rods

141

Surfacing of cold-work and hot-work tool steels. High control over the weld pool while keeping dilution with the base metal low.

03

MIG/MAG wires

135 · 136 · 138

Solid and cored wire technology. Engineered for maximum deposition rate.

04

PTA plasma powders

15

Precision thin-layer surfacing. Minimal dilution with the base metal preserves the nominal chemical composition and properties of the deposit from the very first layer.

05

Spray & fuse powders

flame spraying with fusing

Self-fluxing coatings applied by spraying and then fused. A diffusion metallurgical bond — no melting of the base metal.

06

Laser cladding wires

laser · 52

Mould repair, salvage of casting defects, production of sensors and medical instruments. Narrow heat-affected zone and the lowest dilution.

Technical support

Selecting the surfacing procedure

A qualified team of IWE welding engineers with 15 years of experience in industry.

01

Consumable and technology selection

We establish which filler metal and which process match the wear mechanism, the geometry of the part and the equipment actually available in the plant.

02

Process parameters

Welding current range, shielding gas, bead technique, number of layers and buffer layer. Matched to the specific part and to the specific power source.

03

Heat treatment

Preheating, interpass temperature and post-weld heat treatment, matched to the base metal and to the chosen deposit.

04

Service life and downtime

The durability of the repair and the running time between overhauls are the overriding criterion in every decision.
